Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a leading and Global Manufacturing Group based in Gloucester, Gloucestershire to recruit for a dynamic & experienced Italian Accountant. A great opportunity working within the financial reporting department with a primary responsibility for the accounting and reporting for the Italian businesses within the Group, including statutory reporting, group consolidation, taxation and reporting. In addition, the role will provide financial support to the other companies in Italy that are under the Group. The position can offer progression and development along with remote/office working.

Your new role

Your key duties will involve preparation of the drafted statutory annual financial statements for the Italian entities, together with the respective Italian Group Consolidation. Responsible for maintaining financial records for the Italian businesses in accordance with Italian and US GAAP, tax, legal and group requirements. You will manage month end reporting including the preparation and posting of month end journals, the month end financial reports to the US and investigation of variances. You will prepare monthly/quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations, monthly VAT returns and other Italian periodic taxes, as well as preparing the government statistical returns. You will provide support for the preparation of the annual statutory and tax returns, manage the intercompany process and year end external audit to include liaison with external auditors. You will respond to ad-hoc queries and support/liase with Tax functions or external consultants on all Italian tax & statutory matters, including local tax audits. You will work with finance teams in the business and across the shared service reporting and transaction functions, to streamline/standardize the processes across the teams.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this exciting Italian Accountant role, you will need experience within a similar position, fluent in Italian & English languages with detailed knowledge and experience of reporting under Italian & US GAAP. You will have strong communication skills and act as an accounting and financial accounting subject matter expert to the Italian businesses, along with driving process/system improvements in internal controls, policy implementation and procedures. Ideally you will be qualified CPA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA or working towards completion, candidates qualified by experience will be considered. You will be comfortable with statutory accounting processes and be able to support the wider business when needed. Experience within SAP ERP would be advantageous but not essential.
