Head of Financial Services and Commercialisation (Deputy Section 151 Officer)

£72,345 - £78,771 plus £3,720 car allowance

We need someone who isn't just good at financial management but also has real entrepreneurial flair to get the very best value from our high performing services and considerable assets ensuring we keep our customers at the heart of what we do.

You will lead our Financial and Commercialisation team providing direction and support for the accountancy function including corporate planning, exchequer and benefits services, as well as developing the commercialisation agenda for the authority. You will engineer strategies for each area and ensure outstanding service provision. However, this role isn't just about expert management. You will have the opportunity to shape the future vision of the financial services and commercialisation team promoting innovation, efficiency and customer focus, developing skills: improving systems; and encouraging flexible working and performance management to transform our culture.

Working directly with the Executive Director of Corporate Services (Section 151 Officer) you’ll develop the Medium Term Financial Strategy encouraging innovation, commercialisation and creativity as well as our approach to Treasury Management, Capital, Budgeting Setting and many other critical areas. You’ll also give expert advice to senior managers and Members and collaborate with partners.

To take us forward, you need to be a bold and creative finance professional, with a relevant qualification (or equivalent). Full of enthusiasm as well as talent, you’ll be a member of CIPFA (or a similar body) with experience of leading teams in financial management and strategy development and be able to drive the commercialisation programme. You’ll be used to providing advice and support across a large and complex public sector organisation building relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Good with people and great with teams, you’ll open the door to possibilities.
