Axon Moore are exclusively recruiting a Group Management Accountant for a growing Investments company working within the social care sector, based in Spinningfields. They are seeking an ambitious Management Accountant with a strong accounting background and excellent communication skills to assist with the accounting function of ongoing acquisitions with in the business.

About the role

The purpose of this role is to assist senior management and the executive team in making critical business decisions by analysing and producing key financial data. You will implement accounting procedures for new acquisitions as well as producing management accounts for existing businesses. You will work closely with the Group Financial Controller to establish the accounting functions in new businesses and will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial information to the board.

 Salary – £30-35k depending on experience and qualification

 Main Duties
  • Providing commercial finance support working in conjunction with the CFO and Group FC
  • Working closely and building relationships with Managing Directors of new acquisitions and existing businesses to establish effective accounting functions. There will be an occasional requirement to travel across the UK.
  • Preparation of month end management accounts in line the company standards, reporting these to the board in monthly trade reviews
  • Bank and balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
  • Bank account management, assisting the CFO with treasury management and banking information requirements and reporting
  • General bookkeeping and auditing
  • Preparation of VAT returns where required
  • Support the outsourced preparation of annual statutory accounts
  • Support with outsourced corporation tax returns and affairs
  • Production of monthly data and KPIs for inclusion in board information packs and other reporting formats.
  • Performance forecasting and analysis of the department
  • Development and production of budgetary and forecasting practices (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow)
  • Provision of management information as required
  • Development and production of financial models to aid business forecasting and decision making
  • Implement and manage financial controls and systems
  • Contributing to the integration of newly acquired businesses into the group, and the development of a Finance Support Service to those same acquired businesses
  • Seek continuous improvement in processes and systems and recommend changes
  • Various ad-hoc projects that may arise from time to time to support other senior members of the business.
Person specification
  • Part qualified CIMA/ACCA or equivalent experience with a view to full qualification or fully qualified (desirable)
  • Experience in a general accounts department and good understanding of double-entry book-keeping
  • Strong personal values relevant to working in Care sector businesses
  • Strong IT system skills, including advanced Excel user and experienced with accounting systems
  • Experience of analysing data and producing financial information and analysis.
  • Experience with complex financial models
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with colleagues at all levels and explain financial results to non-technical colleagues
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, managing a fluctuating work load
  • Driven and ambitious with a resilient attitude
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
