SME Financial Controller

Your new company
Hays Senior Finance have been retained by Rockley Transport Ltd to recruit an experienced senior finance leader to become their new #1 in finance, reporting directly into the Directors. Rockley Transport are one of the largest Bulk Tipping businesses in the UK providing a first-class service to the Industrial and Agricultural markets.

Due to sustained growth across the group, there is a newly created vacancy for an experienced Financial Controller to join their team and work closely with the Directors to influence business strategy whilst leading a small, established finance team. This role is very hands on and is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SME finance leader to join and grow with an ambitious national business.

Your new role
The Financial Controller will be working directly with the Managing Director and the Chief Operating Officer as a key Business Partner as well as taking full ownership of the internal finance function. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

• Supervising and developing the finance function.
• Setting up, maintaining, and developing financial systems, controls, and procedures.
• Preparing financial models, budgets, and projections.
• Production of management and accounts and key performance indicators.
• Preparing year end accounts and audit pack / audit liaison.
• Creating, developing, and maintaining systems to manage and control working capital.
• Managing short-term and long-term cash flow.
• Supporting operational staff across the business.

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have prior experience in a finance leadership position within an £20-50m turnover SME supporting the MD or board of directors. Due to the ambitious and acquisitive nature of the business, ambition to learn and grow is important as there will be progression opportunities as the business continues to grow. Key skills include:

• Accountancy qualification - ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent with significant PQE.
• Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders up to Director level.
• Commercial awareness.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Demonstrable experience in a hands-on leadership position.

What you'll get in return
Competitive basic salary of £55,000 - £65,000 DOE, private healthcare, 25 days holiday, death in service, etc. This role is office based (Royal Wootton Bassett) but with flexible working options to be discussed at interview stage.
