Financial Controller - 18 month FTC

Based in Tring, Hertfordshire, our award winning multi-site retail client is seeking a qualified accountant to join their growing finance team as Financial Controller in an 18 month fixed term contract.

This job would suit an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified financial controller to be responsible for supporting the Finance team of 12 with delivering the day to day business as usual requirements.

This company is a market leader within their field having experienced significant growth over the last few years and appeared in various "Best companies to work for" lists. Through raising investment and expanding their sites across the UK, including recent acquisitions, the business is continuing to look to the future and this role will play a fundamental part in helping them to continue their rapid growth. The business will be implementing a new accounting package, automating processes, reviewing processes to make them more efficient and setting KPIs across the team to improve productivity and the fulfilment of the team. The current Financial Controller will be focusing on these change projects in order to ensure strong foundations are in place to support further business growth in the future.

The successful individual will be fully qualified with at least five years post qualified experience and will most likely come from a multi-site, multi-revenue stream or fast-moving industry background. You must have a strong track record in leading teams as a Financial Controller with an outgoing personality to fit the culture of the business. The ability to illustrate a strong track record in man management and problem solving with a hands on approach will be critical.

Job responsibilities:

Responsible for the day to day running on the finance function (includes all areas apart from FP&A)Ownership of month end processes to ensure timely and accurate accountsOwnership of the monthly Management Accounts and supporting schedulesResponsible for balance sheet reconciliations for all companies advising on specific actions Ownership of the overheads budget, forecast and actualsProvide month-end commentary for the board packsEnsure VAT compliance and timely submission to HMRCReview of cashflow planning and forecasting and highlighting working capital requirementsEnsure all bank and cash control accounts are reconciled weeklyEnsure the accounts receivable ledger is up to date and settled in a timely mannerInitiate process improvements and efficiencies throughout the finance functionRecruit, train, support and develop the finance teamProvide support for year- end audits and to be the key liaison with the external auditorsReview year-end statutory accounts for all individual companies as well as the Group consolidationEngage with stakeholders across the wider businessSupport the Finance Director with the wider Finance strategy and ad hoc tasks
