We have a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Financial Controller (FC) to take the finance lead in a global company that currently operates in the UK, the USA and Australia but with a vision of further expansion in Europe and Asia.

You will lead our small UK-based finance team and provide timely and quality financial information to enable strategic decision making.

The Financial Controller Opportunity:

Working closely with the senior management team, you will be responsible for providing full sets of financial and management accounts and will partner various stakeholders across the business.

You must demonstrate a strong technical background (professional qualification with 5+ years’ post qualification experience) combined with a commercial and forward-thinking mindset. You will be ambitious, enthusiastic and proactive by nature and comfortable working in an SME environment.

The company is undergoing a period of transformational growth described in a two to five-year plan. This is an exciting time to join the company and become a key player in helping to manage a period of sustained growth.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Managing the finance team and day-to-day financial processes within the business, as well as managing external local finance resources
+ Producing annual statutory and monthly management accounts for the business for presentation to the Managing Director
+ Providing budget holders with an integrated view of financial performance through departmental P&Ls, with early warning on significant changes in expected performance
+ Monthly preparation of Consolidated and Departmental budgets, including Sales budgets
+ Leading the annual budgeting and reforecasting process
+ Ownership of accruals, prepayments and fixed assets and other monthly balance sheet reconciliations
+ Quarterly VAT/GST returns (utilising external resources as required)
+ Weekly Finance Summary report, covering forecast cashflows, debtors and creditors
+ Overseeing the finalisation of the payment run to our suppliers, ensuring they are paid within the agreed credit terms
+ Accountable for ensuring that thorough and effective controls are in place to ensure good corporate governance, minimising the risk of fraud and loss of process
+ Monthly production of KPI packs covering revenue, costs and non-financial indicators and presentation to the senior management team
+ Working with 3rd party brokers to ensure FX transactions are executed at the best available rates, potential to develop hedging strategies to minimise FX risk
+ Cross-departmental business partnering to provide financial assistance to non-finance colleagues, ensuring best possible financial outcomes on projects and launches
+ Coordinating and leading the potential annual R&D tax credit claim (Australia)
+ Main point of contact for external audit as necessary
+ Ad hoc analytical and commercial project work, as requested

About You:

+ Qualified accountant with relevant post qualification experience (5+ years preferred)
+ Experience in the SaaS space desirable but not essential
+ Project management skills
+ Excellent MS Excel skills and presentation skills
+ Sound understanding of the balance between customer focus and commercial awareness, influencing skills
+ Planning and organising skills
+ Able to build and maintain relationships at all levels
+ Creative and pragmatic problem-solver

Remuneration, Benefits and Working Hours:

+ The role is a full-time position, 9am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday
+ The position is office based with flexibility to work from home on agreed days of the week
+ Salary range £55,000 to £65,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience)
+ 20 days holiday increasing every year up to a maximum of 25 days
