Industry leading and fast growing Theatre company are looking for their first Financial Controller to manage all financial and management accounting for the business. Reporting directly to the COO and Founder you will be looked upon to manage the workload of a team of 3 and provide commercial support.

The role:

  • Bring Management Accounts in house from Accountancy firm and ultimately prepare monthly management accounts on all show entities and quarterly management accounts for head office companies
  • Month End Process for 32 companies
  • Manage quarterly VAT returns currently 9 companies per month
  • Work closely with members of the production team to maintain and communicate a clear understanding of the financial status of each production
  • Manage all HMRC communications and ensure all filings are up to date - ensure external accountants are filing on time
  • Control the year end audit process and close off in timely fashion
  • Forecasting and cashflow
  • Banking - oversee the bank recs for 30+ companies
  • Oversee payment runs for up to 10 companies
  • Sales ledger - Processing weekly sales settlements on a weekly basis and train staff on process
  • Oversee Purchase Ledger - Timely clearing of negative supplier balances
  • Intercompany balances and recharges
  • Manage Sage installations and updates and ensure defaults and basic functionality is optimised
  • Work with the MD, COO and production team on new projects

The person:

  • Ideally qualified (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or QBE
  • Previous experience managing a finance department in an SME
  • Theatre/Film/TV Production company experience preferred
  • Sage systems experience essential
  • Royalties experience would be highly advantageous
  • Great communicator with a passion for theatre!
