AFC 360x180

Finance Director

London

£90k – £100k

The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families (AFC) has developed and delivered pioneering mental health care for over 70 years. Our aim is to transform current mental health provision in the UK by improving the quality, accessibility and effectiveness of treatment. We believe that every child and their family should be at the heart of the care they receive, working in partnership with professionals.

Our strategic aim is to ‘Close the Gap’ that we know exists between the need for mental health support, and its current level of provision. We undertake and support research; develop new approaches, policy and practice; teach and train a new generation of professionals and researchers; and collaborate on a national and international basis to achieve a step change in child mental health and wellbeing. Our aim is to increase the impact and scale of all our current activities to reach five million individuals by 2025.

Ours is a complex organisation, with a number of income streams and projects underway simultaneously, so it is essential that our finance function underpins and enables all of our vital work. We are now looking for a Finance Director who can lead our high-performing and professional finance team, which is trusted and well-regarded by colleagues across AFC. Working with the Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer, the Executive Team and the Board of Trustees, you will also be accountable for our IT, facilities, risk and procurement functions.

Candidates will be able to bring the full repertoire of skills, from setting and monitoring budgets and overseeing the production of accurate and timely management information, to advising trustees and contributing to the formulation of long-term plans. Able to ensure that our IT infrastructure is well-maintained, robust and futureproof, you’ll also bring a commercial mindset, experience of management in a complex environment, and confidence working with highly expert colleagues, including clinicians and academics.

The Centre values diversity and aims to have a workforce that reflects the wide range of backgrounds represented in the communities we serve. We encourage applications from all sections of the community.
