Finance Director

Our client is an innovative climate tech software (SaaS) company committed to ‘Reversing climate change by transforming the way we grow’.  The company has developed a 2-sided blockchain based marketplace that connects growers and investors, to reverse climate change through investment in soil carbon.  In support of this, the company also provides software (SaaS) to growers to help improve food production and to increase carbon into the soil.  The company is just completing a successful Seed II funding round, with a Series A round planned later in 2022.  The company is looking for Finance Director that can both lead as part of the SLT and be hands on.

Key responsibilities include:

• As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) provide input on strategic decisions / plans to improve the company’s solutions, performance and financial position.
• Lead the financial management and accounting function, ensuring effective financial controls and treasury / working capital management.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies are up to date / followed.
• Work with the management team to define KPIs and goals and drive company-wide reporting against these.
• Analyse and report on company finances and key performance metrics.
• Ensure high standards of governance and processes.
• Support the sourcing, managing and closing of equity and debt funding opportunities.
• Fulfil Board, Shareholder, Investor Relations and Company Secretarial reporting requirements.
• Manage key relationships with the company’s bank, investors and auditors.
• Manage the production of monthly and annual Accounts, processing of monthly Payroll / HMRC / Pension payments, VAT & Corporation Tax returns.
• Manage Human Resources, Legal and internal IT systems.

Candidate Profile:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Previous FD experience within a high growth, entrepreneurial business (ideally B2B SaaS).
• Strong understanding of the principles of SaaS accounting and SaaS metrics.
• Previous fundraising experience.
• Be extremely analytical and detail oriented.
• Have a strong work ethic, ambition and drive.
