Excellent opportunity for a Qualified Accountant to develop their skills £45,000 to £50,000 Colchester/Hybrid

Your new company
UK arm of an international group are looking to recruit a qualified accountant with experience of Statutory and Tax Accounting to join the UK group finance team based at their offices in Colchester, Essex on a hybrid basis - 2 days office and 3 days home office.

Your new role
The statutory accountant is responsible for preparation of UK tax filings and preparation of the statutory accounts for the UK business. The UK currently has two trading entities and 8 holding companies, the main trading company includes branches from other markets. Your responsibilities:

  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns for the UK VAT group
  • Prepare and submit corporation tax filings (inhouse) in conjunction with external tax advisors
  • Preparation of annual tax packs for the estimation of the UK tax provision for the statutory accounts
  • Management of payments on account
  • Preparation of annual confirmation statements and other web filing in conjunction with professional advisors
  • Ensure all statutory and tax reporting is completed on time and accurately for businesses supported by the UK team, including at this time UK, Ireland and consolidate branch information for statutory purposes in Dubai, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark
  • Preparation of Statutory accounts for the UK companies within CaseWare including detailed notes in conjunction with the UK finance team
  • Maintenance of monthly accounting for the holding companies including cashbook postings, loans and interest calculations, month end revaluations and the month end close process including agreement of intercompany balances for holding companies
  • Assistance with consolidation of group tax provision and monitoring of status of overseas filings.
  • Work with external tax advisors on more complex tax matters
  • Maintain and update working knowledge of tax laws and regulations, including new filing practices, deadlines, and any company-specific information


What you'll need to succeed
The Statutory Financial and Tax Accountant will be a Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA) with ideally 1 years plus post qualified experience.

  • Knowledge of direct and indirect tax matters
  • Experience of using third party software to prepare Financial statements and corporation tax returns (ideally CaseWare).
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Experience with Statutory Accounts and Local GAAP (knowledge of US GAAP would also be helpful)
  • Ability to take ownership of work and be accountable to the stakeholders.
  • Be able to effectively build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills
  • Resilient, self-motivated & positive
  • Strong systems and IT skills with an ability to innovate, learn and implement new systems.
