Director of Property Accounts - Bristol - Our Client is an established professional commercial property consultancy with a solid and expanding client base spreading the UK. They have instructed us to recruit for a Director of Property Accounts due to the forthcoming retirement of the incumbent Head of Client Accounting.

The Role will encompass all aspects of Client Accounting and applicants will need to demonstrate good commerciality and leadership as well as attention to detail and will include:

  • Managing an established and competent property management accounts team.
  • Overseeing the whole client accounting function ensuring the smooth running of the purchase and sales ledgers and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Completing and reviewing property service charge year-end accounts by the team.
  • Communicating with key stakeholders including Partners and Directors to drive improvements.
  • Interacting with clients including meeting attendance to understand their specific needs, interpreting their requirements and responding appropriately to develop the relationships.
  • Responsible for ensuring all relevant information for lease reviews are captured and charges raised in accordance with RICS guidelines.
  • Liaising with property management colleagues to accurately plan service charge budgets and maintain cash flow to ensure client liabilities are satisfied.
  • Overseeing the review of rent ledgers and bank account reconciliations to ensure timely payment of funds to clients with responsibility for BACS payment processing and bank relationships.
  • Providing VAT reports and preparation of client reporting packs within the agreed timescales.
  • Managing the RICS audit process including preparation and presentation of information.
  • Providing advice, guidance and mentoring to develop junior team members and drive process change within the department whilst maintaining a tight control environment.

The Person: The successful candidate will have detailed prior experience of commercial property management and client accounting within a commercial property environment, with additional current working knowledge of property management systems (QUBE / TRAMPS/ YARDI etc) To apply you will also be a good communicator - as positive interaction between the different departments is essential and have above average presentation skills as it is important that new clients have a positive experience from the outset - Client contact will be a vital part of the role.. You will also ideally hold a professional accounting qualification and be able to demonstrate experience of managing a team. You will be able to analyse financial information and disseminate to non‑finance people and be able to meet strict deadlines and effectively prioritise the team's workload. Knowledge of RICS money handling regulations and NRL procedures are highly desirable.
