Accountable Recruitment are representing a dynamic and reputable accountancy practice in St Helens who are looking to appoint a Audit and Accounts Senior on a full time and permanent basis.

JOB TITLE: Audit and Accounts Senior
JOB TYPE: Full time/ Permanent
SALARY: Up to £40,000 (DOE)
ROLE:
- Managing your own client portfolio with a mix of some larger audit clients and mostly SME clients with a turnover mean of circa £5m
- Liaising directly with clients to provide end to end service delivery on time and managing the client relationship in a professional and friendly manner
- Identifying and referring complex accounts and tax matters to the specialist technical directors as required
- Leading Audit's from planning to completion
- Resolving simple queries and refer more complex issues to audit principal
- Supervising more junior members of staff as appropriate, including checking their work and providing guidance as required
- Planning and preparing for accounts preparation assignments for a wide range of business entities from both manual and computerised accounting records, under supervision from Manager/Director.
- Completing sets of accounts to a high quality with supporting schedules, working from source documents/records to final accounts for review by the appropriate Director
- Preparing monthly management accounts for a few clients, as required
- VAT returns preparation
- Computing Corporation Tax liabilities using proprietary computer software
- Training and assisting clients with software and accounting systems
- Answering client queries and providing support as required (with reference to technical directors if needed) via telephone or email
- Good knowledge of business and personal tax matters
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- ACCA or ACA qualified/part-qualified with at least 3 years practice experience OR Qualified By Experience with at least 5 years practice experience and other relevant accounting qualification
- Substantial recent Audit experience
- Ideally have some Charity Accounts experience (although not obligatory)
- Working knowledge of Digita, or at least another similar accounting software (training will be provided if needed)
- Have a general working knowledge of client bookkeeping software systems such as FreeAgent, Xero, or similar and in particular Sage.
- Strong communication skills and able to work in team, as well as independently manage own time and workload
- Excellent troubleshooting and lateral thinking skills with the ability to manage and resolve tasks involving incomplete/poor records
- Strong knowledge of Excel
