SERVICE CHARGE ACCOUNTANT - REAL ESTATE - Fixed Term Contact - OUR CLIENT is a well-established Property and Asset Management firm (Owner / Manager) based in Central London and are seeking a Commercial Service Charge Accountant to join their team on fixed term contract basis to be responsible for the administration and control of the service charges arising on their commercial property portfolios.

THE ROLE: You will be required to work closely with the respective Property Managers to provide an efficient and timely reconciliation of the service charges for the various properties owned or managed by our client. You will also be required to assist the property client accountants in their day to day work. The main duties will include but not limited to:

  • Prepare annual reconciliation and accounts in compliance with RICS guidelines and ensuring service charge accounts are accurate.
  • Liaising with property managers and clients in order to gain approval of accounts.
  • Assisting property managers in preparation and management of service charge budgets
  • Handling queries raised by colleagues, clients and tenants.
  • Implementing new clients onto the accounting system, ensuring a smooth and correct handover takes place.
  • Completing cash reconciliations on a timely basis.
  • Managing junior colleagues.
  • Managing a portfolio of client properties.
  • Ensuring all duties and responsibilities are executed to the industry's 'Best Practice Standards' and best practice at all times.
  • Being available out of 'normal' working hours and at short notice if the needs of the company or the portfolio so require.

THE PERSON: To apply, you MUST have previous experience in service charge accounting y gained in the commercial property sector. It is essential that you have strong Excel skills as well as experience using a name Property systems such as TRAMPS, QUBE, YARDI or similar. You should additionally possess solid communication skills (both verbally and written) and possess a strong work ethic and attention to detail. You are expected to be enthusiastic about your role, use initiative and at the same time be able to work solely or as part of the team. The role also requires a high level of organisational and administrative skills. This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to join a property firm with over 20 years of expertise.
