Bursar/Director of Finance and Operations
Henley-on-Thames
Competitive Salary
To start January/February 2022
The Governors are seeking to appoint an ambitious, dynamic and creative Bursar/Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) and Clerk to the Governors with outstanding leadership abilities. This is an opportunity for a strategic visionary with excellent interpersonal skills to join the senior leadership team. The appointee will have a key non-educational role in the continued growth and development of this highly successful boarding and day school.
As well as playing a key part in the strategic development of the College, the Bursar/DFO is responsible for the effective leadership and management of the majority of the support functions of the School. This extends to responsibility for finance, operations, compliance (including health & safety and data management), the estate (including the building fabric, technology, and environmental impact), catering and commercial activities.
Shiplake College is a thriving and relatively young HMC school. It caters for boarding and day boys aged 11-18, with girls joining in the Sixth Form. In September 2021 it welcomed a record 487 pupils to the school – an increase from 400 in September 2013. From 2023 girls will be welcomed into Year 7 as the College becomes fully co-educational.
Overlooking the River Thames, two miles upstream of the famous Henley Royal Regatta stretch, students enjoy a beautiful and inspiring 45-acre rural site. At the heart of the College is a late-nineteenth century mansion, surrounded by modern amenities.
The successful candidate will be financially and commercially astute; have a proven management track record and have experience of managing complex projects.
