Director of Finance and Operations:

 

This post offers a unique opportunity for an ambitious applicant to join a growing and successful Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) in Greater Manchester. The Director of Finance and Operations will be responsible for ensuring that the Trust operates with excellent financial governance in line with the requirements of the Academy Trust Handbook, published by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). The role will also involve liaising with the Department for Education (DfE), auditors and other external advisers, suppliers and contractors.

We have innovative plans for the development of the Education Learning Trust and as such the DFO as part of the Executive Team, has a key role in the delivery. We seek a high-quality finance professional, with first-class accounting skills who can think and operate strategically to support the Trust’s vision. Respect and value for the education of young people is paramount, to ensure aspirational opportunities are provided for them.  We welcome applicants from all business sectors, however experience of working in a multi-academy trust (MAT) would be an advantage, along with an understanding of publicly funded organisations.  

The successful candidate will lead our Business and Finance Team, working closely with a range of stakeholders including leaders and governors of individual academies and Trust auditors, they will liaise with various government agencies, and report to the CEO and Trustees. We are seeking an excellent communicator, who encourages innovation and shares a creative culture of continuous improvement amongst their team and colleagues.
 

Job Title: Director of Finance and Operations

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer of Education Learning Trust

Accountable to: The Trustees of the Education Learning Trust

Duration of Post: Permanent

Work Commitment: 5 days per week.

Salary Range: Circa £70,000

Holidays: 25 days

Work Pattern: To meet the needs of the Trust, which will require some occasional evening work.

Start date: 3 January 2022

The Education Learning Trust is a local community MAT, with DFE sponsor status, which is a cross-phase, currently consisting of five schools.
