The Opportunity

CIMA finalist / newly qualified?  Looking for a role away from core management accounting / reporting and focused 100% on added value business partnering?

One of the region's fastest growing businesses has a requirement for a commercially-savvy accountant to join their commercial finance / business partnering team. It is a step away from month end accounting / reporting and your remit surrounds working with decision makers across the group to influence positive strategies.

You’ll be working with the head of commercial to drive revenue, retain margin, minimize unnecessary cost and influence profitability.  It’s an incredible opportunity to spread your wings as a newly qualified accountant and showcase your commercial acumen. 

You’ll be pulling back the curtain to get a clear picture of the drivers of success within the group and drilling down into ways of working, profit streams, drivers of cost – basically helping to further drive growth and success.

The role would suit someone who sees themselves moving well away from tax packs and stat accounting and into a fully fledged commercial business partnering role.  There is hands on analysis and excel work to be done but the majority of your focus is communicating with the business to spot opportunity and then working alongside to take full advantage of it.

Your management accounting skills won’t go blunt – you will still have opportunity to work alongside central finance / the FC if you need to keep your tool sharp but the absolute focus is added value.

You need

• To have recently completed CIMA (or be on the cusp of qualification)
• To have convincing and demonstrable commercial awareness and ability to ‘get behind the numbers’
• Great Excel skills (no brainer)
• A love of working with others to make a positive impact – this is a highly visible role and much of your time is working alongside operations and commercial teams to bring improvement to life.
