The Opportunity

This is just an incredible opportunity – there is so much to like. The business is privately owned and you will work directly for the 2 shareholders.  They are amazing – hugely likeable, professional, down to earth – highly ambitious, honest and completely values led… they genuinely value their employees and have an obvious keenness to invest in the people who work here. 

The business has just celebrated it’s 10th birthday and they have delivered growth in revenue and profit every year incrementally since start up – all bootstrapped growth so no debt and a really sensible cash position. 

They have recently pushed past £8m turnover, growth is accelerating and they expect to push past £20m in the next 3-4 years. 

You are number 1 in finance and an integral role in the senior leadership team from day 1.  You have headroom to become FD and the directors would love you to make this step up. 

You’ll be key in embedding process and control and most important is your ability to provide a proactive financial sounding board.  The owners are welcome to your input and challenge – interestingly here you are more likely to be pushing them to take more risk rather than less.  

The business is in mega shape and is potentially a ‘sleeping giant’… your input should help drive growth through investment, diversification and well-managed risk taking.  It’s so exciting – an agile SME, ran by brilliant people who are screaming out for your input.

You need:

  • Previous experience as FC or Company Accountant within a professional SME ideally.
  • A recognised accounting qualification ideally – although not essential if your experience is right and your attitude is spot on.  
  • Experience of a distribution business would be useful but not a prerequisite. 
  • Great IT skills, the business have recently implemented Sage 200 and exposure to Sage would really help.
  • The right team fit – this is key.  The Directors have cultivated such a superb culture of togetherness and shared values… you need to be someone who will add to the party…  Team player who will relish the chance to play a key part in the success of an SME where new challenges will need to be solved and everyone needs to pull in the same exciting direction.
