Based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire MRK are pleased to be working exclusively with a retail client, who are looking for a qualified accountant to join their team as Financial Controller on a permanent basis. The client is a family run organisation with a products sold worldwide where you would lead a team of 4 in Finance, with strong processes in place this role offers someone a good work/life balance.

This job would suit a ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified accountant with a previous experience managing teams and working in a SME environment with a T/O of £10m, reporting into the Commercial Director you would have the complete running of the finance team.

The successful individual will be able to demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and knowledge in accounting and keep up to date with current developments. Strong analytical skills including a good understanding of excel, including ability to assess and analyse data to create financial reports is also essential for this role. You will also be good at creating effective working relationships with key stakeholders and ability to manage, train and delegate to team members

Job responsibilities:

Daily management of the AR and AP teams including review of ongoing targets and KPIs, final review and sign off of supplier payments, management of the daily bankingPreparation of monthly management accounts including accounting adjustments, ledger and control account reconciliations, preparation of management information and investigating material differencesManagement of cash balances and cash flow including requirement forecasting and arrangement of currency trades where requiredPreparation of departmental budgets and monthly review of departmental expenditureOngoing management of credit insurance policy including approving customer credit limits per insuranceVAT management including preparation of all group quarterly VAT returns in the UK and internationally and dealing with any internal VAT queriesManagement of internal tax issues including annual R&D tax claim, annual patent box claimFinancial forecasting and other business modelling generally where required to review possible business opportunities/aid in company decision-making
