Impressive group based near Newark, circa £100m turnover, have an immediate requirement for a talented, diligent and commercially aware qualified finance professional.  You’ll join the strategically focused FD as Financial Controller in a pivotal role for the group.

This isn’t an ivory tower structure – you’ll need to be a hands-on accountant with a ‘sleeves rolled up’ approach to delivering accurate and meaningful packs to the Directors.

You’ll lead a small finance team and enjoy coaching / making a proactive difference wherever you see room for improvement.

 The initial role in on a fixed term contract basis however there is scope for the position to become permanent for the right candidate.  Equally if you prefer the world of interim and would like to fulfil the short / midterm need then pass the baton to a permanent employee then this is also fine.

There is bags of variety and you’ll be working for a reasonably complex, longstanding and profitable group with plenty of interesting moving parts.  There is support on hand from the FD locally if required but you will also enjoy the right degree of autonomy. 

Your input will be massively valued and new ways of working / suggestions for improvement and development are absolutely welcomed.

You will ideally:

• Be qualified (ACCA / ACA or CIMA) with extensive experience as Financial Controller / Head of Finance within a business if similar size (£50m - £200m turnover).
• Have experience of construction or manufacturing environments and a natural ability to partner the non finance leadership team with confidence.
• Have excellent IT skills including Excel.
• Be someone able to guide and lead a small finance team.
• Have a natural ability to improve controls, enhance reporting and spot areas for improvement.
• Be in a position to start a new contract at relatively short notice.

This is a varied, involved and challenging role within a business which is in excellent shape.  You will join on a contract initially however there is scope for the role to become permanent.  It is site based and you need to be able to commute to Newark daily.
