The focus of this role will be in the Strategic Transactions and Investments, providing insightful strategic, commercial and corporate finance support to breakthrough strategic projects. Often working with incomplete information and in "new" areas for the business, the role collaborates closely with functional experts and senior leaders to originate and execute new partnerships, transactions and ventures.

Key Role Responsibilities

● Support the delivery of business strategy through identification, assessment and execution of potential partnerships, transactions and investments (e. M&A, JVs) and new commercial ventures

● Support the delivery of high quality commercial & corporate finance input to internal stakeholders

● Collaborate with the Strategy team and Senior Business Leaders to think about business development opportunities with a progressive, systematic and structured approach

● Support the development and delivery of presentations to senior stakeholders, providing clear data driven analysis and recommendations to support key strategic decisions.

● Support and build relationships with functional areas and external intermediaries (e. banks, consulting firms) to support idea generation and the development of a high-quality deal / opportunity pipeline

● Maintain and develop high quality relationships with a broad range of internal subject matter experts (strategic, commercial, financial, technical)

● Support the development of commercial business cases, and bespoke commercial / business models to optimise returns and minimise risk

● Support advanced financial modelling exercises to support a range of commercial analyses

● Support clear, insightful appraisals of potential opportunities, considering strategic, financial and commercial priorities, and the potential to realise broader synergies

● Support the co-ordination of effective due diligence exercises on potential targets and partners, and support the development of post deal business and integration plans

● Support deal structuring and the negotiation of commercial terms and contracts (e. HoTs, SPAs)

● Engage with stakeholders and external partners.

Profile

● Appropriate professional level finance qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)

● Relevant Commercial or Corporate Finance background, including experience of executing transactions in support of identified strategies. Such experience could have been gained through in-house Corporate Development roles in industry, or alternatively within practice M&A / Transaction Services teams or possibly Private Equity / Venture Capital roles (or similar)

● Relevant experience of business case development and commercial appraisals

● Experience of commercial negotiations in a transactions / partnerships context

● Experience working in a demanding environment with highly motivated and driven professionals

● Driven and self-motivated, and able to proactively address challenges and manage change

● Ability to perform complex financial analysis / modelling, and articulate outputs to senior stakeholders in a succinct, digestible manner to inform strategic decision making

● High degree of commercial acumen and ability to influence, including ability to support negotiation

● Ability to review, understand and provide commercial input to key transaction documents

● Highly organised, able to balance multiple projects, priorities and resources

● Communication: excellent presentation skills; ability to clearly communicate complex problems into simple, compelling messages/decision point.
