This is a fast growing business who have won awards and have been noted as a Fintech company with the ambition and team in place to continue its success. Due to growth, this is a newly created role where you are needed to use your IFRS and technical accounting knowledge on a BAU and project basis. The role will assist during a busy period, you will therefore have to pick up tasks quickly and use your technical expertise to update, develop and maintain their accounting policies.
Initially you will be needed for 4-5 months. The company are very flexible and offer this as a hybrid role. You decide the days you are in the office, this may be once a week or you can do 2-3 days and more if you wish. Equally, you may prefer for most of your time to be from home. The office is based in the City.
You will be heavily involved in preparing and reviewing accounting standards and policies and development of new products. Your experience can also be utilised across the bank, therefore, you will work closely with internal stakeholders and you will be highly visible to senior management. Strong communication skills and business partnering is a must.
The position will require that you assist in BAU technical accounting and financial accounting tasks as well as technical accounting projects.
Your main duties
- Develop company-wide accounting policies
- Evaluate new financial reporting requirements and oversee their implementation
- Technical accounting input and review of financial statements
- Support for Audit Committee on key issues impacting the financial statements
- New project assessment and accounting impact analysis for management including journal entries and financial statements disclosures
- Provide technical accounting support to company-wide strategic projects
- Lead and perform key technical accounting research including keeping up to date with changes in relevant accounting standards.
- Provide ad-hoc technical support to the wider group of business when necessary
The knowledge you need
You will be a qualified accountant with PQE experience in a IFRS technical accounting role. In particular you will have knowledge of IFRS 9, IFRS 15 and IFRS 16.
You will be able to challenge and improve processes and procedures with a desire to build a best-in-class function. Driving the automation and streamlining processes where possible. Excel and data analysis will also be key. An excellent understanding of the best practices used in developing and applying accounting policy is also required.
