About Us

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is the newly merged Trust comprising University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and Weston Area Health NHS Trust.

Bringing together a combined workforce of over 13,000 staff, the new Trust delivers over 100 different clinical services across 10 different sites serving a core population of more than 500,000 people.

With services from the neonatal intensive care unit to care of the elderly, we provide care to the people of Bristol, Weston and the south west from the very beginning of life to its later stages.

Our staff are the lifeblood of our Trust. They provide general diagnostic, medical and surgical services to the populations of central Bristol, south Bristol and North Somerset. These services are delivered from our Bristol city centre campus and Weston General Hospital with some services delivered in community settings such as South Bristol Community Hospital.

The Role

We are currently looking to recruit an exceptional, professional and highly motivated Head of Management Accounts to provide leadership and management to the Management Accounting Department (circa 28 FTE) and provide senior financial input into Trust wide projects and working groups.

This is a key role in the senior finance team and will work closely with the Director of Operational Finance and Head of Financial Performance ensuring that all management accounting information is accounted for and reported in an accurate and timely manner.

As Head of Management Accounts, you will also be responsible for proactively designing, developing and implementing policies and procedures relating to management accounts across the Trust, liaising with other finance teams and the wider trust network to ensure suitability and compliance.

About You

To succeed in this role you will:

• Be a qualified accountant with significant experience working in a large, complex organisation and ideally experience of managing a management accounting service at a strategic level.

• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrable experience of leading and engaging with finance and other corporate functions to develop a mature and rounded service.

• Be financially and politically aware, bringing a high level of NHS knowledge on the delivery of good management accounting information, ensuring that an effective service is delivered; deputising for the Head of Financial Performance as appropriate.

• Be a strong leader able to communicate well with your peers and team members and have resilience to adapt quickly to changing priorities and demands from internal and external stakeholders and the wider health economy.

•             Band 8C salary package £65,664 - £75,874 dependant on experience
