US Corporate Tax Senior - Expat Tax Opportunity to work in the New York Office US Corporate Tax Manager

Your new company

A boutique organisation based in the city of London that has many international clients is offering a fantastic opportunity for two US tax specialists, one can be more junior and one can be more senior.

What you'll get in return
Flexible working options available.

It would be a mixed practice in terms of areas of taxation, but you would need to be fairly OK at either expat tax or company tax. Super specialists would probably not work out, so someone who has basically only been working in transfer pricing with a Big Four firm or with banks, or in US sales tax for the past few years (for example) is not likely to fit the bill.

The manager level person will be talking to UK businesses about the US and US businesses about the UK and they will be very client facing. They will be involved in BD and will need to exude immediate credibility.

Which office would they work from? We believe we have a lot to offer here in that we are quite open, as you can see from the categories we could accept here:

  • currently in the UK - and work in our London office for a short period and then work for us in NY, or
  • currently in the UK - and work in our London office for a longer defined period then work for us in NY, or
  • currently in the UK - and work long term/indefinitely in the London office for US.

The NY office will be in Manhattan. At least initially it will be serviced offices.

Background: Whilst we are all set up and registered in the US we have not opened an office in the US yet. If we start by recruiting US staff in the US it will be a challenge, especially with Covid but even in normal times, to train them up in the way we do business (fees, SOPs, policies, etc) and in other respects as well.

If, however, they happen to be in the UK and are happy to work in our London office for a while then we can train them up there (whilst they are doing normal client work)

Apart from that we can also accommodate US tax people who do not plan to leave the UK (the third point / category just above).
