Axon Moore are exclusively recruiting a Purchase Ledger and Payroll Manager for a very well established and exciting manufacturing company based in Lancashire. Established over generations, they have gone from strength to strength and have worked hard to establish an excellent working experience for all employees. They are now seeking an ambitious manager with a strong background who is keen to learn in the role and add value to the wider accounts team.
About the role
The purpose of this role is to assist senior management and run a small team across Purchase Ledger, while maintaining the weekly payroll. You will encourage best practice and run an effective operation to ensure suppliers and employees are paid on time and correctly.
Salary – £37-40k depending on experience and qualification

Main Duties
- Reporting into the Financial Controller, managing and overseeing the Purchase Ledger function as well as the weekly payroll
- Management of 2 purchase ledger staff
- Overseeing the processing of around 1000/1200 invoices per month
- Supplier account management
- Dealing with escalated queries
- Making the payments to suppliers
- Month-end close and reporting
- Responsible for the weekly Sage payroll which has many different shift patterns, allowances and overtime, using Mitrefinch TMS. Training can be provided
- Must have strong excel and IT system skills in order to navigate bespoke IT/accounting systems and complete the work. Training will be provided on bespoke/new systems
- This is a trusted position within the management team and will work closely with the FC and the business owners
- Ad-hoc support to the FC and wider accounts team where required
- An experienced manager within Accounts, incorporating Purchase Ledger and Payroll
- Strong IT system skills, including intermediate/advanced Excel user and experienced with accounting systems
- Great people person and people manager with a good reputation
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with colleagues at all levels
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, managing a fluctuating work load
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
