Marks Sattin is currently working with a highly established and well respected national business who are currently recruiting a Data Protection Officer to their team. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Risk and Compliance department on a 12 month fixed term basis.
Overview of the role:
Reporting to Head of Risk and Compliance, the post holder will:
- Providing regulatory advice, support and challenge to the business on data protection legislation and cyber security matters
- Monitoring compliance with data protection laws, internal data protection policies
- Drive forward the Data Protection, Information security and Cyber agenda
- Lead the design and implementation of Data Protection training for the business
- Provide effective reporting on Data Protection matters through various internal forums and Board Committees
- Ensure effective compliance with the business's Risk Management Framework
We're keen to hear from individuals with the following skills and experience:
- CIPM, CIPP/E, ISEB DP practitioner or EU GDPR F or P certification
- Expert in depth knowledge of data protection law including DPA 2018, GDPR, Privacy Shield and FCA date protection and information security expectations.
- Experience of working in a data protection/compliance role in a FCA regulated financial services business
- Experience of being responsible for all DPO activities including expert advice, monitoring and oversight, Board committee reporting and relationship with the ICO
- Excellent written and verbal communicator able to influence senior stakeholders and leverage/negotiate resources across the group to achieve objectives
- Professional, self-motivated, approachable, collaborative and calm, able to prioritise and work on own or as part of a team to provide pragmatic advice and solutions to meet a range of stakeholder needs.
