Financial Controller
Resourcery Group are partnering with a growing and profitable SME in Manchester as they look to appoint a Financial Controller. This is a newly created role due to continued growth. Role Summary:
To support the Finance Director in developing and maintaining a first-class Finance function and to contribute to the decision-making process of Management to help ensure business growth and long-term success.
The Financial Controller will manage a team of 8 in Finance, based at the Manchester office. Maintaining accurate financial records, timely and insightful financial reporting and MI, budgeting and forecasting, cash and working capital management and effective leadership are central to the role. However, the scope of the role is much broader than this; there will also be a requirement to work with the Finance Director and the wider Management Team to:
* Support and contribute to the business's growth strategies.
* Improve processes and controls.
* Identify and deliver cost savings.
* Effectively integrate new systems.
* Undertake corporate finance activities.
* Manage our relationship with external stakeholders.
* Oversee and enhance KPIs and optimise our use of data.
Financial Controller Core Responsibilities:
* Ongoing maintenance of accurate financial records.
* Overseeing the timely production of accurate monthly management accounts and KPIs, including commentary, variance analysis as well as gross margin and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
* Production of budgets and forecasts, including ownership of the weekly cash forecasting process.
* Effective management of working capital to maximise our current and forecasted cash position.
* Ownership of processes and controls within the Finance function; including identifying, proposing and implementing improvements.
* Controlling business costs and identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
* Working with the Finance Director and Management Team to manage our relationship with external stakeholders, including the provision of timely and accurate reporting.
* Management of the annual audit process, ensuring a clean audit report and timely submission of statutory accounts to Companies House.
* Liaising with external advisors to oversee the preparation of all tax returns, computations and other submissions, including VAT, Corporation Tax and R&D.
* Company secretarial duties, including (but not restricted to) the submission of Companies House returns.
* Other ad-hoc work, as required by the Finance Director and the wider Executive Management Team.
