Mixed Tax Senior Central London Mid Tier Practice 75% Personal Tax 25% Corporate Tax Study Support


Accountancy Practice and Tax recruitment specialists Hays are currently working with a prominent and well-regarded city based firm of accountants who are looking to grow their Tax department by recruiting a Mixed Tax Senior into their team in their City office.

They have developed an excellent reputation as a result of their clients first focus and have an excellent and steadily growing presence. The successful candidate will be responsible for their own mixed portfolio of Personal & Corporate clients, as well as identifying tax planning opportunities for a portfolio of clients.
The role is approximately 75% personal tax and 25% corporation and other taxes.

The role will primarily consist of providing tax compliance services to an interesting mix of clients and gaining greater exposure to advisory and consultancy work ideal candidate may be a ATT/ CTA Student or Fully ATT Qualified and will have had excellent experience of undertaking both corporate and personal tax work within a practice environment. Responsibilities:

 Preparation of personal tax returns for a portfolio of clients which may including sole traders, partners, HNWIs, non UK domiciliaries, partnerships, non-residents and trusts

 Preparation of forms P11D for a portfolio of businesses.

 Preparation, review & submission of corporation tax returns.

 Preparation of simple Sole Trader & Partnership Accounts & Rental Income Statements.

 Advising individuals and companies of their tax liabilities.

 Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients.

 Assisting with HMRC enquiries into personal and corporate tax returns.

 Assisting on tax advisory projects for existing clients and prospects.

 Carrying out research on different areas to assist Managers/Directors/Partners.

 Identifying tax planning opportunities within individual and corporate client portfolios.

 Meeting with clients and potential clients.

 Client Billing.

Competencies:

 Planning and Organising: must be able to plan workload in order to prioritise work to meet conflicting deadlines and cope with pressure.

 Written and verbal communication: good written communication skills are necessary to draft correspondence with clients and HMRC to explain technical issues in an easily understandable manner. Must have good inter-personal skills to be able to liaise with clients and other staff members.

 Client Focus: meeting deadlines and responding to client needs.

 Technical Expertise: maintaining technical knowledge.

Candidate Profile Education/Qualifications:

 Professionally Qualified (CTA or ATT) or QBE Key Experience/Skills:

 Experience gained within a UK professional services firm.

 Good knowledge of private tax compliance and exposure to planning/advisory work.

 Knowledge of corporation tax compliance and ideally some exposure to planning/advisory work.

 Technical knowledge to include: CGT, IHT, business tax aspects.

Non-resident, non-domicile and partnership experience will be useful.

 Ability to write letters explaining complicated planning issues as well as verbal communication skills.

 Computer literate using a range of applications/programmes.

 Knowledge of IRIS software would be useful.

 Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.

 Reporting to tax manager and partners.

 Daily dealings with a varied client portfolio
