Financial Accountant Job - £45k to £55k DOE - Hybrid working based in West Kent - Property and Housing Sector

Hays is delighted to be working with this leading West Kent based business in sourcing for an accomplished Financial Accountant with either Property, Housing, Public Sector or Charity experience.

Your new role
This is a hands-on financial accounting role where you will provide technical leadership on taxation, regulatory returns and accounting standards, and maintain, simplify and improve efficient and effective systems and tools for full financial management and control.

Responsibilities will include;
Successfully leading the year end audit process and deliver approved annual financial statements for the group and subsidiaries in accordance with the year-end timetable. Review and be able to deliver regulatory and financial returns on time and with robust analysis and complete accuracy and full assurance. Implement strong financial controls, maintain financial records (including monthly balance sheet reconciliations, the asset and liability register, financial regulations) and systems in accordance with statutory financial regulations and our rules and procedures. Drive business wide efficiencies to optimise performance by reviewing team systems and processes and automating where possible. Before taking on new liabilities, ensuring that we understand and manage the likely impact on financial controls, processes, and regulatory compliance. Administer the Fixed assets register and reconcile with Asset Management System for Component Accounting. Work effectively with stakeholders including external and internal audit partners and tax advisors.

What you'll need to succeed
You will ideally be a qualified (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) financial accountant with experience gained from within either the property, housing, public sector or charity industries. You will also have broad knowledge and practical experience of financial, statutory and management accounting within a busy environment. The ability to engage with and develop positive relationships with key budget and stakeholders across the business is essential. Advanced excel skills are highly desirable as is any experience with financial system migrations.
