Marks Sattin are currently working with a major UK manufacturing business to assist in the recruitment of a Commercial Analyst. This is a new role within the business and will be part of a new team which will report directly into the MD. In this role you will be looking across the whole business at how they can make cost efficiencies.

As a Commercial Analyst you will conduct examinations of the department revenue, operations, and expenses to find ways to improve the departments, financial standing. You will use mathematical models to identify patterns and discrepancies in financial activity and then use this analysis to suggest policy changes and goals to improve profits. You will look at all ways the departments operate and determine ways that it can be more successful.

Your main objective is to maximise savings and minimise spending:

  • Analysing internal and external data and information to identify business opportunities
  • Producing monthly profit and loss reports for your designated department
  • Identifying areas where we are experiencing margin erosion and how we can implement cost saving measures
  • Work closely with Report Writers, using reporting to provide insight into reasons behind erosion in order to drive business decisions to reduce costs
  • Ensure reporting produced is easy to interpret and goal-driven for continued innovation and growth
  • Work closely with Finance in order to align with what is reported in the company profit and loss
  • Occasional ad-hoc reporting
  • Providing requested data / performance analysis as required
  • Report identified system issues / anomalies in the data sources
  • Support in annual Contact Centre budget preparation
  • Partner with Customer Operations Management team, supporting long term cost reduction

Skills:

  • Background working in Finance Functions
  • Part-qualified / qualified ACA / ACCA is advantageous but not essential
  • Previous experience in analysing data with the focus on cost saving action as a result
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to present key findings and trends to aid business improvement
  • Proven ability to take the initiative with a naturally inquisitive nature
  • Ability to present findings in a clean, concise and easy to understand format
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate across all levels
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to present findings to senior members of management
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • High proficiency in MS Office applications with an Advanced Microsoft Excel skillset
  • Exposure to BI Reporting Tools e. Power BI or QlikSense is desirable but not essential
