My NHS client located is South East England are looking to recruit for a Head of Finance on a 6 month contract, with potential to extend.

As a senior member of the Finance Directorate the Head of Financial Management - Operations will support the Director of Finance (Financial Management) and Deputy Chief Finance Officer to provide financial advice to the organisation and support the Finance Business Partners in the communication of the income and expenditure position to the Clinical and Corporate Directorates.

Responsibilities of the role (but not limited to):

  • Lead the production and agreement of all clinical and non-clinical budgets across Clinical and Corporate Directorates within an agreed corporate financial framework and timetable consistent to meet Group planning timescales.
  • Support Finance Business Partners to ensure the relevant financial positions of Care Groups and Divisions are well communicated in a prompt, timely fashion to all levels of Management and operational teams. 
  • Supporting Finance Business Partners to be able to produce accurate forecasts of the full year financial position and preparing financial action plans as required
  • Support the Deputy Chief Finance Officer to ensure highly complex financial information is communicated in a style understood by all within the Trust and system.
  • Working in conjunction with the Financial Accounts Team to ensure all relevant Income & Expenditure transactions are properly recorded in the financial ledger in accordance to current accounting standards.  Provide high quality working papers to support all appropriate entries for collation across the Group.

About you:

  • CCAB or CIMA Qualified Accountant
  • 3 years post qualification experience
  • Significant knowledge of the leadership and management context of the NHS, the NHS financial systems and of financial system and processes necessary for delivering excellence in healthcare
  • Significant expert knowledge of public sector Financial Accounting policy
  • Significant ability to analyse and interpreted highly complex data, facts or situations to interpreted these and make reasoned and logical deductions, compare a range of options and formulate plans
  • Advanced ability to use Excel, word PowerPoint and Financial accounting packages
