My Local Government client located in East London are looking to recruit for a Principal Finance Officer on a 6 to 9 month contract.
As the Principle Finance Officer, you will be expected to provide a business focussed, strategic financial advisory and support service to specific directorate divisions, ensuring effective management of resources, proper accountability, control and compliance with corporate standards and statutory obligations.
Responsibilities of the role (But not limited to):
- To lead in the preparation of the annual estimates for a service area culminating in the Budget and Council Tax Setting report to Council.
- To lead in the year-end closure of the accounts for a service area culminating in the Outturn report to Cabinet and the preparation of the Statement of Accounts
- To lead in the monitoring and reporting of financial performance against capital and revenue budgets and investigating variances for a service area.
- To calculate, analyse and complete comparative statistics. Provide financial input into questionnaires, grant/subsidy claims, statutory and other government returns.
About you:
- AAT qualified or equivalent work experience and training
- Ability to implement sound and prompt solutions in the event of real, or potential, reconciliation difficulties in key systems.
- Aptitude for numeracy.
- Ability to encourage effective budgetary control and to assist in the identification of corrective strategies to contain expenditure within Budget.
- Ability to assist to monitor progress against timetables and to implement corrective strategies in the event of slippage or potential problems.
- Ability to assist in identifying potential changes to systems or processes to improve the timeliness and robustness of the reconciliation process.
