  • Monthly management accounts preparation for the Board including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow together with insightful variance analysis.
  • Financial stewardship of the business by ensuring proactively that rigorous controls focused on cash flow are developed and maintained across the operations, including procurement, supplier management, stock, and customer debtor management
  • Managing the relationship with auditors including the timely filing of accounts
  • Ensuring governance and controls are in place to support the reporting and payment of taxes (including VAT, corporation tax, PAYE).
  • Ownership of budget and forecasting
  • Supporting and challenging budget owners to meet targets and deliver budgets
  • Provide a consistent system for employee salaries, benefits and performance incentives
  • Engaging, identifying and implementing appropriate solutions for business-critical project finance

About you:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with at least 10+ years' experience in executive leadership positions
  • Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
  • Self-motivated and ambitious
  • Solid grounding as a Finance Director in a high growth SME environment
  • A down to earth and "sleeves rolled up" approach, combined with commercial knowledge in order to help build the business profitably in partnership with the MD, whilst at the same time championing and implementing rigorous cost and cash control
  • Proven ability to successfully develop, manage and lead a team
  • Strong communication skills and someone who leads by example and is a 'doer rather than a delegator'
  • Proven experience running a finance function in a high growth operational SME environment working alongside an MD as a business partner, with a continued focus on improving operational processes across areas such as cash recovery, procurement, and stock management.
  • Strong experience of dynamic financial planning which takes into account changes in the commercial environment.
  • Implementing robust cost and cash controls across the business to ensure that the company grows profitably in a cash generative way.
  • Strong Excel skills

Our client is offering a very generous remuneration package including a basic wage of £80-100k (based on experience and qualifications) plus considerable bonus earning potential is available based on performance and growth of the business against targets. Flexibility in working hours including the potential to work from home where mutually beneficial is negotiable.

The Finance Director will ideally be based in South West region of the UK and will predominantly be required to be on site (especially in the initial stages of the role) to get under the skin of the business and forge crucial relationships with direct reports and key stakeholders.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant, long-term impact in a key leadership role and partner with a passionate and driven Managing Director and be instrumental in the growth and further success of a respected business by helping it to realise its full growth potential and beyond.
