The background
Roxhill (www.roxhillmedia.com) is a media database, launched in 2013 with a vision to disrupt the Public Relations communications sector. Over 8 years we have built a real-time, data-led media intelligence platform. This gives PR and media professionals the tools and insight to understand where in the media industry, their brands or products are being discussed and to engage and develop mutually beneficial relationships with key figures.

What’s next?
Roxhill now has over 1,400 Blue chip and corporate clients within the PR industry, generating an annual turnover in excess of £6m. It has grown to 50 staff based in a WeWork (Bank) office in London, and with this rapid growth comes the need to scale up our financial operations. The team of two, a bookkeeper and credit controller spin all the plates required reporting directly into the COO. They work closely with Roxhill’s external accountant to produces and provide the oversight via the company management and statutory accounts.

What are we looking for?
We are ready to bring the finance functions fully in-house. This is a real opportunity for someone with prior experience of financial control and strategic management to lead and shape the finance provision for Roxhill over its next stage of growth. The processes have evolved as the business has grown, but now needs a dedicated person - not only to improve the operational aspects - but to also grow the department more strategically and provide insight into the company growth plans.

An organised team player who is adaptable to ongoing change management in a growing company is vital. A pivotal department in Roxhill, you will lead a small team by taking a hands-on approach and influencing all areas of the financial processes. You will mentor and develop the finance team to grow as individuals and to contribute even greater value, not only to our clients, but also internally to all teams from senior management through to client facing sales team and account managers.
As a cash generative business, it is important not only that we monitor cash held but that we identify specific areas in which to spend it most profitably, so we can grow the Roxhill platform. We have ambitious plans and need a strategic thinker to support these ideas with hard cash and forecasting analysis.

Your specific responsibilities:
•    Manage all financial transactions and ledgers held on Xero
•    Develop the roles of the finance team to ensure optimal delivery of client service and interaction
•    Financial control duties – Invoicing, credit control, payments and banking, review and filing the quarterly VAT returns to HMRC
•    Supplier procurement and oversight on effective cost control measures across the company
•    Regular financial reporting – Revenues and expenditure, monthly management accounts and cash projection forecasts
•    Collaborate with external accountants in UK, with the preparation of the annual P11D’s, PSA, year-end accounts and R&D claim
•    Budgeting and forecasting – Develop the annual and 3-yearly budget preparations which link up to investment packs and strategic business planning for Roxhill
•    Strategic insight and advice, working alongside senior internal stakeholders, to advise on cash spending plans and subsequent needs for additional cash via loans, equity investment and potential mergers.
•    Continuous improvement of operational and financial processes to support the finance department’s growth and fitness-of-purpose

What skills, experience and attributes are we looking for?
•    Experience of a Subscription based accounting and the SaaS / Tech industry preferable
•    ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification with previous experience in a broad financial role
•    A strategic thinker who understands what the numbers “say” to ensure business focuses where practically important
•    Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and accounting software system Xero.  Knowledge of SaaSOptics financial operations software desirable but not essential
•    Personable and able to communicate and develop strong relationships, across both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
•    Organised and able to prioritise tasks as needed throughout the financial month
•    Mentoring skills to develop the team’s skills and roles
•    Professional, confident and diplomatic when liaising and communicating

What’s in it for you?
Roxhill is built on a culture of fairness, support and pride in everyone’s work. As brand leaders in the Media Database world it is important to us not only in that we deliver a support service, but as to how we deliver that service. We are therefore looking to support someone who brings clarity and focus to the team, develops their team skillsets and demands and maintains high standards.
This role is flexible and as part of the core team in a growing company there will be opportunity and exposure to see across the whole company. We have a strong focus on personal development and trying new things in a collaborative work environment, of which we believe a healthy work/life balance is important.
Our office is in a new WeWork office in the heart of the City of London, with games, free snacks and drinks, regular events and an onsite café. In addition we offer:
•    Friendly & open working environment
•    Hybrid working
•    Time off on your birthday
•    Pension Scheme
•    Enhanced family leave scheme
•    Weekly schedule of online fitness classes
•    Cycle to work scheme
•    WeWork discounts across Gym membership (50%) as well as many retailers
•    Regular team learning / socialising opportunity
