The Opportunity

This isn’t just grinding out the same old monthly reports that sit on stakeholder desks gathering cobwebs. You’ll be focused on business partnering – taking the management accounts and MI packs out on a weekly basis and having meaningful discussions to influence decision making and actions.

It’s proper ‘make a difference stuff’ within a rapid paced, ever changing and expanding manufacturing group that leads the way in their market.

It’s a setting where innovation, new ways of working, new products, new customers and continuous improvement are the norm… if you are looking for a sleepy business where the message is ‘do as we’ve always done’ then this one isn’t going to ding your bell.

Your key focus initially is supporting the factory leadership team.  You’ll be driving down into the P&L and piecing together info from the production team to shed light on the triggers of variances (labour / materials / outputs / waste / yields – plus a raft of commercially focused KPIs.

The numbers will suggest a story and give you some ideas around where to look for improvements. Your colleagues will be able to provide the full context.  Your job is pulling that narrative together and providing credible and evidence based commentary and suggestions.

Basically your role is critical in helping manage cost, improve margin, enhance efficiencies, understand variances and improve forecasting.

After 24 months your CV will be stacked with achievements rather that route bullet points listing month end tasks.

  • You need to be an inquisitive, interested and confidence Management Accountant with a knack for building relationships with non finance folk.
  • You’ll need to be able to produce credible analysis and reporting and be keen to get out into the belly of the business with your findings.
  • You’ll be someone who will take enjoyment and pride from your ability to influence change.
  • There is major scope for the role to develop and for your career to flourish within the group.
  • You’ll ideally be qualified or part qualified and you need management accounting skills and good understanding of excel.

Experience of a manufacturing business / costing would be useful but not an absolute pre requisite.

You will ideally be able to start the new role in Q1 2022.
