The opportunity

Are you looking for a broad and integral role within an expanding group that operates with a modern outlook and has a genuine culture of continuous improvement?

You’ll support the head of finance in a crucial role as Finance Manager.  You’ll be someone who prides themselves on your ability to deliver credible and accurate month end accounts packs. 

Your bag of tricks includes being able to strengthen controls, improve systems and processes, coach a small team, meet deadlines and provide the business with numbers that can be relied upon as absolutely bulletproof.

It’s a mixed role of financial reporting, management accounting, capex proposals and post investment ROI reporting, month end and year end management.  You’ll be a hands on, capable and calm Finance Manager / FC. 

Ideally you will have worked in a manufacturing setting and in a reasonably complex business of £50m turnover+.

You’ll be working within a large, autonomous subsidiary of a market leading group (FTSE 250).  You’ll enjoy working in a superb culture – inclusive, collaborative – a fun setting to work in.  Your role is busy and challenging but there is also a real awareness of employee wellbeing and engagement and as such the work life balance is sensible (certainly no late-night emails or unrealistic deadlines).

The business is in superb shape – constantly launching new products, winning new tenders and enhancing market share.

You will need:

• To be someone who enjoys getting stuck into adding value – not a role for someone who enjoys ‘twiddling their thumbs’
• ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
• To have a track record of success as FC, Finance Manager or Financial Accountant.  You need solid core accounting skills and ability to manage a month end timeframe effectively.
• Commercial / business acumen – ability to spot ‘something unusual’ in the numbers.
• Confident in your IT skills and Excel knowledge.
• To be a ‘people person’ it’s a great team and you’ll communicate daily with finance and non finance colleagues.
• To have a proactive, calm and methodical approach to improving processes, procedures and controls.
