Athwal Resourcing is recruiting for a Finance Controller to join an expanding Group with a manufacturing business based in Wolverhampton and overseas entities. The business is a dynamic group of companies that have enjoyed rapid growth over the last few years, organically and via acquisition. Their growth in the UK over the past few years has meant the Group needs a high calibre Finance Controller to support the finance team and work closely with the UK CFO.

As Finance Controller, you will oversee the day to day running of the accounting function and finance team for the UK business and international operations. Ensuring the local management accounting, group financial reporting and statutory reporting is completed on time. This role is critical to ensure robust financial controls and disciplines within the companies and comply with group accounting and control policies. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing financial procedures and maintaining and improving the financial health of all the UK subsidiary and overseas entities and future acquisitions. You will be instrumental in developing financial analysis and reporting to help the business make better-informed decisions aligned with the operational and strategic goals. This pivotal Finance Controller role is an integral part of the senior management team to aid business unit directors, managers, and respective teams in finding solutions to critical issues and managing external relationships with suppliers, customers, Group head office, and external authorities.

The Finance Controller responsibilities including:

  • Finance Control Fully responsible for controlling and reporting the UK manufacturing business and its four international trading companies, maintaining robust and timely financial reporting. Ensure high-quality financial controls are in place and in line with Group guidelines;
  • Finance Performance Oversee and review monthly accounts and ensuring all day to day accounting is completed accurately and provide full transparency to the Board on the UK and overseas entities and be fully responsible for the consolidated financial accounts for the Division including overseas subsidiaries;
  • Staff Management and leadership for the finance team of part qualified and support staff. Responsible for the recruitment, performance and development of all the financial accounting staff, ensuring personal development plans and training needs are recognised;
  • Working Capital Management and Cash flow Oversee and review all payments and payroll, and review of weekly cash-flows forecasts and reporting including working capital management;
  • Finance Plans Work closely with the CFO and manage the financial delivery of the annual budgeting process and forecasting;
  • Operational Excellence Business partner the Business Unit Directors and operational managers on commercial and financial matters. Attend operational meetings to establish financial control and drive operational excellence through analysis, management reporting and a dashboard of KPI reports meeting operational and strategic targets;
  • Liaison with External Stakeholders Managing and coordinating the year-end processes for the UK and overseas entities and being the point of contact for the external auditors, tax authorities and bank relationships;
  • IT Implementation Be the finance lead in understanding the ERP system, especially the financial transactions within the Division;
  • Initiatives and Ad hoc projects Working with the CFO on strategic and commercial initiatives and financial control across the company.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Graduate calibre with accountancy qualification of ACCA, CIMA, ACA;
  • Held a financial managerial position within the Manufacturing sector;
  • International multi-sited experience would be an advantage;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Good analytical problem-solving and reporting skills, proficiency in MS Office and integrated ERP systems;
  • Excellent leadership skills in managing a multi-discipled finance team;
  • Continuous process improvement mindset;
  • Confident in reporting to Group and liaising with international entities;
  • Excellent time management skills to be able to prioritise the workload for self and finance team.
