MY NHS client are seeking to recruit a Band 7 Deputy Finance Manager for the next 6 months. Reporting in to the Senior Finance Manager, you will be expected to provide accurate and timely financial reporting and advice to the Divisional management team and budget holders. To act as a point of contact for all issues of financial control for the areas allocated. To monitor actual performance against plan, for both income and expenditure, assist the Senior Finance Manager with business cases and CIP plans. To deputise for the Senior Finance Manager, as required.

Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • To provide financial reporting and advice to budget holders on all issues of financial control, financial risk management, financial planning and Corporate Governance in accordance with policies agreed within the Trust.
  • To support the Senior Finance Manager, Divisional managers and budget holders in decision making and implementing changes. This would include assisting with business case development and CIP plans.
  • To assist the Senior Finance Manager with the production of accurate and timely financial performance reports within a timetable agreed by the Director of Finance.
  • To monitor financial performance and identify trends and where necessary agree corrective action with the budget holders. Identify areas of financial risk to the Division and take appropriate action to resolve.

About you:

  • Completed AAT Technician Stage, or be part way through studying for a CCAB qualification or have equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in all aspects of financial reporting, planning and control.
  • Significant experience of working to tight reporting deadlines.
  • Experience of supervising junior staff
  • Experienced user of computer applications with a good working knowledge of Excel, Word, email and large general ledger systems.
  • Ability to apply knowledge to workload and demonstrate analytical skills.
  • Significant experience of management accounting issues to include budgetary control and costing techniques.
  • An understanding of NHS Finance

Desirable:

  • AAT/CCAB qualification
  • NHS financial experience
  • Experience of using reporting packages, i.e Qlikview qualification.
  • The ability to undertake training of both junior finance staff and budget managers.
