Your new role
This successful candidate will work at either Assistant Manager, Qualified Senior or Part Qualified level dependant on qualifications and experience. They will play an important role within the firm, including assisting in the continuing growth of the Abingdon office making this is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual who wants to develop and further their career. The role includes: The role includes:
- Effective management of own portfolio
- Prepare management accounts
- Assist with book-keeping as required
- Prepare year end accounts for approval by the Trustees
- Liaise with auditors or independent examiners as required
- Provide advice on charity accounting issues
- Lead, manage, develop and coach the book-keeping team
- Monitor WIP levels for your own portfolio and ensure bills are raised in a timely manner
- Ensure that technical quality and client care standards are achieved on each assignment
- Manage the client relationship to achieve a positive response and ensure that the service provided meets the client's actual and perceived needs
- Identify opportunities for improving the clients' business and ensure that appropriate expertise from within or outside the team is applied to finding potential solutions
- Ensure opportunities to heighten name awareness of the firm are identified and exploited
- Ensure appropriate courses are attended and professional reading undertaken in order to keep technical knowledge up to date
- Be an integral member of the charity group and participate in charity group activity
In collaboration with other managers:
- Plan charity assignments so that optimum use of staff is made in terms of ability to complete the task and recoverability
- Manage the workflow and staff availability to minimise the effect of peaks and troughs on the department
- Preparation of staff appraisals for allocated line staff and ensure quarterly assignment appraisals are completed on a timely basis
- Develop and maintain the training schedule for staff within the department
- Assist in miscellaneous duties when required
- Essential: Microsoft Office, Accounting Software Packages
- Desirable: Digita Suite, SAGE, QuickBooks, Xero, Virtual Cabinet, DEXT, Auto Entry.
What you'll need to succeed
- Desirable: Qualified Accountant
- Desirable: Previous experience working in a practice environment
- Essential: A minimum of two years relevant experience
- Essential: Part Qualified Accountant
