Financial Controller

Based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, we are pleased to be working exclusively with a retail client, who are looking for a qualified accountant to join their team as Financial Controller on an interim basis for c-4 months but with the opportunity to become permanent.

This job would suit a ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified accountant with a previous experience running a finance function, managing a team and working in an SME environment.

The employer is a successful organisation with products sold worldwide which has ridden the Covid pandemic and is returning to strong growth. You will lead a team of 4 in Finance, with strong processes in place, this role offers someone a good work/life balance with hybrid working.

The successful individual will be a qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant with a previous track record running a finance team as Financial Controller, Head of Finance or Finance Manager. Strong analytical skills including a good understanding of excel, including ability to assess and analyse data to create financial reports is also essential for this role. You will also be good at creating effective working relationships with key stakeholders and ability to manage, train and delegate to team members.

Job responsibilities:

Daily management of the AR and AP teams including review of ongoing targets and KPIs, final review and sign off of supplier payments, management of the daily bankingPreparation of monthly management accounts including accounting adjustments, ledger and control account reconciliations, preparation of management information and investigating material differencesManagement of cash balances and cash flow including requirement forecasting and arrangement of currency trades where requiredPreparation of departmental budgets and monthly review of departmental expenditureOngoing management of credit insurance policy including approving customer credit limits per insuranceVAT management including preparation of all group quarterly VAT returns in the UK and internationally and dealing with any internal VAT queriesManagement of internal tax issues including annual R&D tax claim, annual patent box claimFinancial forecasting and other business modelling generally where required to review possible business opportunities/aid in company decision-makingThis is a great role for a Financial Controller available on short notice looking for a role in an established business with a friendly environment.
