Senior Management Accountant

Leeds (Hybrid Working)

£45,000 - £55,000

18 months FTC

This is a rare opportunity to join this fantastic business who are looking to bring on board a Senior Management Accountant on an contract basis.

The Senior Management Accountant will assist with the production of timely and accurate monthly management accounts. In addition the role will provide support to the annual and quarterly business planning process. The role must liaise closely with and support the business areas to ensure an accurate representation of the business, ensure close control of expenditure and manage all cost budgets and forecasts.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide detailed and accurate monthly management information to allow senior management to monitor expenditure performance and understand movements.
  • Responsibility for the maintenance of the general ledger, commitments ledger and forecast ledger by ensuring miss-postings are cleared in a timely and accurate fashion, forecast changes are made quickly and commitments are correctly represented for engineer/budget holder spend management
  • Responsible for ensuring the Budget & Forecasting system is maintained for existing and new budget codes.
  • Provide organisation, support and challenge to the engineers and project managers within the Projects team in the production of papers to senior management
  • Rapidly develop successful working relationships which promote trust and confidence in the ability of the finance department to support the Capital Projects and R&I teams;
  • Business Partner with project work and ad-hoc analysis
  • Complete customer net profitability analysis on a monthly basis
  • Assistance with the preparation for and in liaison with the annual financial audit
  • Assistance with standard costing reviews including the analysis of landed costs attributable to products
  • Ad-hoc analysis to assist the financial director
  • Produce daily, weekly and monthly reports in terms of sales and gross margin categories
  • Complete weekly wages including bonus amounts calculations, submissions
  • Complete monthly salaries including overtime, commissions, submissions, P32 report for PAYE & NI
  • Manage, support and develop the accounts assistant in line with CIMA studies
  • Support a Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (GP)

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) (Strong QBE / Part qualified candidates may be considered)
  • Strong excel skills, with previous experience of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (GP) being an advantage
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Able to demonstrate problem solving skills, but be able to ask for assistance if required
  • Organised self-starter with high level of detail
