We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance/risk manager looking for the next step in their career and to broaden their experience. You will be responsible for:

  • A £15m-£20m insurance budget
  • Maintaining relationships with insurers and brokers
  • Maintaining effective insurance cover in line with legal/contractual requirements
  • Negotiating renewals
  • Settling outstanding claims & day-to-day management of insurance policies/claims
  • Driving a risk management culture and continuous risk management improvement working alongside others with a similar agenda
  • Supporting the delivery of ad-hoc projects

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering complex projects at pace and relish at the opportunity of being deeply involved in a wide range of projects. These transferrable project management skills are more essential to the role than direct experience and present a fantastic opportunity to progress within the business. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside in-house tax, corporate finance & treasury specialists as well as third party advisors, so someone who is a collaborative team player with the ability to foster good working relationships is essential.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have knowledge of the typical risks large businesses face and typical mitigations for those risks
  • Candidates must be familiar with risk management monitoring systems, models & tools.
  • Candidates must be adaptable, quick learners and clear thinkers that can analyse complex problems and create an action plan despite changes in the type of project or demand
  • Candidates must be forward thinking, with good communication skills as they will need to inspire teams that are not their direct reports into new ways of thinking and creative working solutions
  • Candidates must be a team player able to work across multiple workstreams to achieve tasks
  • Candidates must be qualified to a degree level with a minimum of 5 years working in financial or insurance/risk management.
  • Candidates must have experience of corporate finance projects and/or M&A activity

Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:

  • An understanding of insurance practice & administration, financial accounting, contract law, claims management, tax & a working knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation
  • Previous experience in a similar role, negotiating insurance contracts & claims or working on risk improvement programmes
  • ACII/CII/IRM insurance accreditation
  • ACA/ACT or similar financial qualifications.
