Totum Partners are partnering with an ambitious, growing mid-tier law firm in its search for an interim Head of Finance. Reporting into the firm's COO and managing a team of over 20 staff, the position is covering a maternity leave and will be for 12 months. This is a great opportunity for a senior qualified accountant with significant managerial experience to join a friendly, collegiate environment with an emphasis on excellent client care.

On a day-to-day basis and via six direct reports the Head of Finance runs the finance team, overseeing all the operations, reporting and associated systems There is a planned finance systems upgrade which will be managed in house and the Head of Finance will have a role coordinating staff and making sure the right levels of commitment during the project are given to it by members of the firm outside the finance function. There are also any number of cross-functional projects happening in the firm and the Head of Finance will be an integral component in several of these at any given time. Through smaller mergers and lateral partner hires as well as organic growth, the firm has grown at a consistent pace with the finance function providing expertise when necessary, making sure the correct levels of financial due diligence for any growth prospects have been properly exercised. This has often been led by the Head of Finance and the interim replacement will be expected to play this part. The Head of Finance also plays an important part in supporting the Partners in running their businesses successfully and will often be called upon for opinion and ideas of how to manages pricing, profitability, cash-flow and any other financial management issues Partners face.

Applicants should be qualified accountants with extensive professional services experience, with a strong preference for someone who has previously worked in a senior position in a law firm's finance function. Previous M&A and systems upgrade experience would be looked upon as particularly helpful. Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management are both key attributes required.
