International Accountant

Responsible to: Group CFO

London with some UK travel and overseas travel / plus hybrd working

Overview of the position:

The overall objective of the role is to support the CFO & the finance teams of UK, USA and other overseas territories including working with and monitoring each entity's outsourced book-keeping and accounting partner, undertaking various financial and management accounting requirements and supporting the month end Close and Reporting processes ensuring the reporting deadline of the end of WD1 is met;

The position encompasses - and would perfectly suit someone who actively wants to get involved in - a wide range of financial, accounting, reporting and analysing.

Main responsibilities and deliverables

  • Support the WD1 month end Close and Reporting processes by undertaking a wide range of activities (e. ensuring all customer invoices and credits issued each month are reconciled against each entity's accounting system), calculating the monthly Revenue and Cost of Sales accruals, preparing the draft P&L for each entity;
  • Calculate on WD1 the monthly sales commissions due to all the Sales Managers and Key Account Managers;
  • Prepare various WD2-5 post month end reports including Aged Debtors, Creditors & Fixed Assets (FA);
  • Undertake a broad range of financial, accounting and reporting actions including maintaining the FA register, managing capex WIP, depreciation and amortisation, calculating various accruals including bonuses, preparing all BS recs; reviewing VAT returns; designing and implementing new processes, controls and reports etc;
  • Manage the personal expenses, receipts and company credit cards processes, and payments, ensuring all expenses are correctly booked;
  • Maintain effective cash management by preparing a weekly cashflow forecast looking up to 3 months ahead, monitoring customer debts and debtor chasing; preparing draft supplier payment files twice monthly; credit checking potential new customers and recommending credit limits;
  • Monitor the Company's outsourced book-keeping partners, check all accounting entries are correctly booked and coded in each entity's accounting system, and correct any posting errors identified;
  • Design and deliver clear, accurate and timely MI and financial analyses including manpower reports, variance analyses, expenses analyses;
  • Raising inter-company recharges as and when required;
  • Identify and help implement process improvement initiatives;
  • Liaise with the Pricing, Sales, Operations, IT, HR, Customer Services and other teams in each entity;
  • Support and contribute to annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes;
  • Review commercial contracts with focus on financial and accounting clauses

Essential Skills:

  • Fully or exam qualified accountant (ACA / CIMA / ACCA or equivalent) with 24+ months accounting experience in the F&A team of an SME or audit firm;
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot tables, Look-ups etc are essential, Macros are desirable). Able to understand complex formulas on spreadsheets inherited from previous jobholder;
  • Thrive working in a busy, pressurised and fast-moving environment and enjoy working on matters that the jobholder may not have previously worked on;
  • Be comfortable handling and processing large amounts of data, and be able to present his / her analyses in a clear and concise format. Desirable Skills:

Desirable

  • Direct experience and use of the Xero accounting system
  • Direct experience and use of the Power BI system;
  • Experience of the E-Commerce / logistics / freight forwarding industry.
