This design and manufacturing business is part of a global group of companies supplying a range of products and services to industrial customers. Following a recent restructure of their UK operation they are now seeking to recruit an experienced Finance Manager for their £50m turnover site in Lancashire.

The role will be based at their modern, technologically advanced facility that has recently benefitted from significant investment to ensure they maintain their excellent reputation and commitment to quality. This is new position requiring an individual who is keen to progress their career in a world class engineering environment and is looking for longer term development and promotion. Reporting into a Senior Controller the key duties for this role will include:

  • Managing and developing a finance team of five staff
  • Leading the forecasting and budgeting process
  • Analysing margins and business profitability
  • Evaluating customer, product and process performance
  • Maintaining and developing the costing system
  • Supporting Commercial and Operation teams with financial data
  • Developing cost effective borrowing methods with banks and head office
  • Analyse and make recommendations on potential CAPEX projects
  • Variance analysis and monthly balance sheet, P&L review with non-finance
  • Managing stat accounts production and tax compliance
  • Point of contact for internal and external audits

The main objective of this position is to ensure the day to day activities of the finance department are managed correctly whilst also providing decision support to the senior management team. You should be comfortable liaising with all levels of plant personnel to engage key stakeholders, working within a framework of deadlines at both a group and site level to ensure reporting requirements are met. As part of the role you will be expected to investigate and resolve issues, analyse data and suggest improvements, support projects with other departments and delegate work to your team.

The ideal candidate for this vacancy must have experience with ERP systems and accounting software, strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and explain financial information to non-finance personnel. A manufacturing / engineering background is essential and applicants must be fully ACCA / CIMA qualified with previous experience at Senior Management Accountant / Finance Manager type level.
