Financial Controller | Urgent Requirement | Immediate Start | Circa £350 per day (may go higher)

Axon Moore are currently working with a leading PE backed business in the Stockport area who are undergoing a period of rapid change and transformation. They are looking for an experienced Financial Controller delivers accurate and timely reporting to support the business; they manage a robust control environment to ensure transactions are recorded accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner to support the business and the PE company.

As Financial Controller you will ensure that effective controls are in place to report accurate financial information on a timely basis to support decision making and a ‘no surprises’ approach. You will also be responsible for the transactional team (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Treasury functions) and management accountants

Duties:

• Lead and manage all aspects of the finance and accounting activities to include the accurate and timely production of monthly management accounts and insightful board reports; ensure all internal and external reporting deadlines are comfortably achieved.
• Co-ordinate all month-end activities, with hands-on input in some areas, under tight reporting deadlines.
• The key to successful close will be through monitoring activity throughout the month, with weekly ledger reviews and managing transactional staff via KPIs
• Foster strong relationships with PE stakeholders; deliver accurate and informative reporting
• Ensure that the key processes (Order to Cash, Purchase to Pay, Record to Report) are documented, understood and are consistently challenged to drive improvements and efficiencies
• Maintain robust financial and operational controls that operate in line with agreed policy; proactively identify and implement improvements in policy, controls and processes which, where possible, should be embedded within the financial system
• Responsible for taxes, both direct and indirect, and effective controls to record and process.
• Drive all aspects of treasury management
• Lead and develop the finance team to deliver strong performance, excellent stakeholder relationships and a thorough understanding of both finance and the wider business.

Person Specification:

• Educated to degree or similar qualification and relevant accountancy qualification, including ACA, CIMA or ACCA
• Strong technical accounting background with experience of stock accounting and related processes e.g. FMCG or manufacturing business
• Strong organisational and management skills – able to prioritise work to meet deadlines and to effectively delegate work within the finance team.
• Strong communication skills – able to communicate effectively at all levels of the business.
• Excellent IT skills, including Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience of process and system improvements, helping to deliver change through ERP systems; prior experience of SAP B1, would be beneficial.
