A leading merchant banking group require a part qualified Tax Accountant to manage statutory tax compliance deadlines and obligations of the Commercial division. The Tax Accountant will take responsibility for advising the business and finance teams, as well as taking ownership for the project management of tax projects and deliverables.

A key aspect of the role is to review and assist with all tax compliance matters of the Banking Division, and monitor controls in order to prevent and reduce all risks relating to tax.

The Tax Accountant also seeks to achieve tax savings via the review of processes and monitoring and utilising the legislation. 

 

Responsibilities

  • To manage the Corporation Tax calculations for UK and Irish entities.
  • To ensure that tax computations and returns are filed with the relevant tax authorities, in the correct format and on a timely basis e.g. Corporation tax and PSA returns. 
  • To assist the Banking Head of Tax and the Tax Managers in ensuring that tax payments are made accurately and on time to the relevant tax authorities.
  • To respond to tax related queries from internal or external stakeholders on a timely basis and in a practical/ commercial way
  • To provide support to the finance function during reporting periods such as the year end including preparation of detailed taxation calculations.
  • To ensure that adequate controls are in place including those required by the Senior Accounting Officer regulations and keeping documentation and risk registers up to date.
  • To respond to business or HMRC queries on a timely basis.
  • To ensure that all Governance and Compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the Regulatory Bodies are carried out to the standards required.

 

Skills & Experience

You will:

  • Have experience in direct taxes.
  • Ideally have experience in financial services.
  • Ideally have experience in software tools such as SAP and ALFA.

 

Education & Qualifications

You will have:

  • A professional qualification in accounting e.g. ACA, CA, ACCA, CTA  (part qualified) or equivalent work experience
  • A Minimum 2:1 Degree or equivalent in any discipline, A-level qualifications or equivalent
  • A professional qualification in tax e.g. ATT or CTA is desirable but not essential

 

The salary for the role pays £35,000 - £40,000 pa
