My client is a US privately owned diverse business. Some of the finance functions supporting the companies in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) are performed in EMEA Corporate Services based in Gloucester.

Those functions include Accounting, Reporting, Accounts payable and receivable, Treasury and Credit control, as well as Indirect Purchasing, HR and IT.

The role

This position is for an Accountant to work in the EMEA reporting department, with a primary responsibility for the accounting and reporting for the UK businesses, including statutory reporting, group consolidation, taxation and reporting to the US parent company. In addition the role will provide financial support to the other companies in the UK that are under the Corporate Services remit.

The person

  • Have detailed knowledge and experience of reporting under UK & US GAAP
  • preferably have experience using SAP ERP
  • have a strong customer service ethic and act as an accounting and financial accounting subject matter expert to the UK businesses
  • execute the role in alignment with policies, procedures and matrixed organisation structure
  • maintain the highest level of integrity and candor to all key stakeholders
  • drive improvements and standardisation in internal controls, policy implementation and procedures


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical Accounting Skills including Qualified Accountant (CPA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • 3 years plus experience in a finance/accounting role with knowledge and hands on experience of UK Tax, including monthly VAT and government returns and UKGAAP statutory reporting.
  • Relevant experience of SAP (preferred)
  • Good working knowledge of US GAAP (preferred)

  • Good organisational skills and ability to work with little supervision
  • Ability to interpret complex problems and explain them concisely to others
  • Confident - can liaise effectively with all levels of staff
  • Human/Interpersonal skills including good communication, problem solving, decision making and relationship building within the finance team and business/corporate management.
  • Flexible regarding travel - small amount of travel may be required in UK
