Assistant Accountant
up to £42k + Study Support
West London
Hybrid working

I am currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join a well established and growing Global Retail firm in West London. This is a varied role that offers great exposure and you will be looking after 3 Nordic Entities. Excellent communication, strong prioritisation skills and multi-tasking are essential.


Responsibilities
End-to-end responsibility for the accounting for 3 Nordic Entities.

  • Month/Quarter/year end:
    • Successfully prepare monthly accounts on time to the trial balance stage, including reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing month end journals, fixed asset depreciation, prepayments/accruals
    • Additional tasks and deadlines in relation to quarter/year end closure
  • Compliance/Tax
    • Prepare, record and file local tax and other fiscal requirements - in coordination with manager
    • Have sufficient working knowledge to take responsibility for VAT return, EC Sales List and Intrastat reporting
  • Accounts Payable
    • Processing, coding, getting approval and preparing payments for supplier invoices
    • Managing the process of expense reports and reimbursement
    • Review and reconcile supplier balances
  • Bank
    • Daily review bank statement and ensure (in collaboration with credit controller) that all payments are booked correctly in accounting system
    • Keep an accurate cashbook
    • Prepare bank payments
  • Cash Flow
    • Preparation of Daily Treasury Report (DTR), forecasting cash-in/out in the coming 3 months
  • Payroll preparation
    • Calculation of monthly sales force commission and bonus
    • Private mileage tracking etc.

Experience and Skills

  • Training for a qualification in Finance/ Accounting, part-qualified, or qualified by experience.
  • Nordic language requirement, preferably Finnish, Swedish, Danish or Norwegian (or Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian) - Desirable
  • Experience from accounting in any Nordic or Baltic country - Desirable
  • Intermediate IT skills and knowledge
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
