My client is an independent charity providing vital support services to individuals in the central Lancashire region. Operating across a number of sites in the area they have also acquired new premises following a recent merger. As part of a planned process they are looking to appoint a Finance Manager on part time basis, circa two days per week (15 hours).
The role will replace a retiring individual and will involve full responsibility for managing the financial affairs for the charity, ensuring that best practice is adhered to, working with managers across the organisation who may have little financial knowledge whilst also supporting the MD to improve efficiencies and profitability. The role will be varied, challenging and extremely rewarding, requiring an individual with a positive attitude and great work ethic. Key responsibilities will include:
- Production of monthly management accounts including commentary
- Discussing financial performance with managers
- Improving controls and developing reports
- Analysis of overheads and on-going costs
- Creating MI to drive performance
- Monitor cashflow and banking requirements
- Balancing retail takings and posting to SAGE
- Develop accurate budgets
- Liaise with accountants for year end audit and stat accounts
As part of this role you will manage and develop an AAT trainee and be expected to provide pro-active support to other departments, in particular advising them on how income will be recognized in addition to evaluating cost-reducing opportunities. The ideal candidate would be a qualified or QBE Accountant, with good technical accounting knowledge and all round experience of SME finance. Strong IT skills will be necessary alongside commercial awareness and excellent communication skills. You will be joining a friendly team and will enjoy excellent benefits including some flexibility over working hours.
