HFG is working with an independent specialty insurance group, with 15 offices globally that writes business through its wholesale broking and MGA platforms, to find a high calibre Group Financial Controller. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, this will be a varied and challenging role supporting one of the fastest-growing businesses in the London Market.
This is a leadership position that maintains a strong financial control environment for the business, ensuring appropriate accounting policies, the integrity of accounting records, and compliance with all legal, statutory, and tax requirements are met. Key areas of delivery will be to:
- Maintain the integrity of the Financial Ledgers and all data sources
- Management of the monthly close processes and production of management accounts
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, and maintain Group accounting policies
- Ownership of statutory returns including VAT, Corp tax, and Statutory accounts preparation
- Manage the required regulatory reporting with the FCA (including capital adequacy and RMAR returns)
- Enhance Treasury processes including investment of funds, FX management, and hedging
- Working capital management and cash flow forecasting
- Tax Planning
- Ensure appropriate expense management and authorisation levels
- Drive continuous improvement of financial controls and procedures
- Management of the external audit process and audit matters
The ideal candidate will have significant post qualification experience (ACA,ACCA, CIMA) with senior level experience gained in the insurance market, preferably in the broking/MGA space. A big 4/Top 10 training background is strongly preferred.
You will need deep knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and exposure to a regulated environment. You must possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels across the business and influence senior management/directors and wider stakeholders
